I'm Alaa (In Arabic: علاء) a general practitioner, passionate Wikipedian, writer and translator. I'm a native Arabic and near native English speaker.

I am a member of Wikimedia Stewards User Group since September 2019. I was a member of Wikimedians of the Levant between May 2015 until December 2022 and an advisor for the Arab Wikimedians Committee in 2020. In addition to this, I am one of the members of Arabic Wikipedia's social networking team.

Most of my work on Wikipedia is in medicine, anatomy and biology, but I also contribute in various fields (More details on my user page in Arabic Wikipedia).

I created my account in October 2010, and I have been active (on a regular basis) since December 2014.

I am currently a Steward, a Bureaucrat, Sysop, Checkuser and Interface-admin on Arabic Wikipedia, Sysop and Checkuser on Wikidata, Sysop on Commons, Sysop on Meta, Sysop on Arabic Wikibooks, Wikinews and Wikisource. I also serve as a VRT member since January 2017.

I also ran my bot, AlaaBot, on several wikis to do various maintenance tasks (Stopped April 2022). In addition to this, I spend time on various IRC channels, including #cvn-ar-scan, #wikimedia-rename, #wikimedia-stewards and #wikipedia-ar.
